John was a vice-captain of the School and, as he believed, the last man to captain the 1st XV and 1st XI in the same year, 1943/1944.

After leaving the NHS, John was an active member of the Old Nottinghamians’ Society for the whole of his adult life, playing for both the rugby and cricket clubs, and captaining the latter. He was a member of the Society Committee for 44 years and it’s Honorary Treasurer for 26 years. He was a regular attender at Beeston Fields even into his final years.

His son John attended the School from 1965 – 1975.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday 24th January at 11:45am in the Serenity Chapel at Bramcote Crematorium.

No Flowers, but if so desired a Donation to The British Red Cross in John’s Memory would be appreciated: c/o Baguley Brothers, 500 Mansfield Road, Sherwood, Nottingham.

Afterwards His Family would be pleased to Welcome Everyone to The Cross Keys at Epperstone where further Tributes and Memories of John will be shared.
